Extracting Files From an Archive |
General Information
For introductory information, please see the section entitled "Brief Tutorial - Extracting Files".
There are several other ways to extract files from an archive:
Extracting Files Using the Extract Dialog Box
To extract files from a currently opened archive, use the "Extract" button on the toolbar or select "Extract..." from the "Actions" menu. The Extract dialog box will be displayed to extract files to a destination of your choice.
PowerArchiver extracts files from opened archive to the folder specified in the "Extract to:" field. You can specify this folder in several ways:
Additional Options
Files
- "Selected files" - extracts only files that are selected in the main PowerArchiver window. The option is disabled if no files are selected.
- "All files" - extracts all files within the archive (this is default option when no files are selected).
- "Files:" - allows you to specify which files to extract using their file names (you can use standard wildcards, so by using "*.html" you can extract all .html files in the opened archive).
Options
- "Overwrite Existing Files" - forces PowerArchiver to overwrite all existing files without prompting user for confirmation.
- "Do not extract pathnames" - makes PowerArchiver ignore path information that is stored in the archive. By default, this option is left unchecked. We recommend you to use it only if you know exactly what are you doing.
- "Open folder after extracting" - when checked, opens the folder that you extracted to when extraction is complete.
- "New Folder..." - allows you to create a new folder and automatically enters that new location into the "Extract To" field.
Please Note:
In "Options> Configuration> Folders" you can change the default extract location based on your personal preferences.
